Walt Disney Amphitheater, Outdoor auditorium at Lake Eola in Orlando, US
Walt Disney Amphitheater is an outdoor performance venue by the lake in downtown Orlando, with a wide semicircular bandshell and green metal benches fanning out in front. The pale cream and green structure holds a recessed stage, while curved rows of seating face it directly.
The Walt Disney Company gave this bandshell to the City of Orlando in 1989. A renovation in 2007 improved the sound and projection systems and brought the seating capacity to over a thousand.
The scallop-shaped facade and fanning rows of benches echo the beach look of 1950s Florida, a style visible in the curved fins and green panels. On summer evenings, the space fills with people gathered for free concerts and holiday shows, with children playing nearby.
The venue sits within Lake Eola Park, so you can combine a show with a walk around the lake or time on the nearby playground. Seating is open and outdoors, making it wise to arrive a bit early for popular events.
From above, the seating area fans out from the bandshell in the same scallop shape as the facade, a detail that only becomes clear on maps or aerial views. The stage also sits close enough to the lake that the city skyline and the Linton Fountain form a backdrop for evening performances.
