The park emerged in 1888 when Jacob Summerlin donated the land to Orlando, establishing a natural retreat in the center of the growing city.
The Walt Disney Amphitheater within the park hosts performances, community gatherings, and the annual Shakespeare festival that draws theater enthusiasts in April.
A 0.85-mile paved path encircles the lake, providing access to swan boat rentals, picnic areas, and the weekend farmers market near Eola House.
The park maintains a flock of different swan species that nest around the lake, while the central fountain shoots water 75 feet into the air.
