Vekoma Illusion

Vekoma Illusion is a steel roller coaster at Bobbejaanland that arranges riders in special seating and moves them through two large cylinders. The train consists of up to 40 two-passenger cars and travels at high speed through the indoor sections.

The design was developed by Vekoma in 1989 and only two versions were ever built worldwide. The American installation at Opryland closed in 1997, making the Bobbejaanland version one of the last two remaining examples.

The ride surrounds passengers with synchronized films and light shows inside two large cylinders as the coaster moves through them. This blend of motion and visual storytelling creates an experience that goes beyond the typical coaster thrills.

The ride requires a minimum height of 100 centimeters and can carry up to 1400 passengers per hour. Visitors should expect long queues during peak times since each train departure takes time despite the length of the consist.

The train operates with a bobsled-style arrangement where riders sit in pairs one behind the other rather than in stacked rows. This design lets the ride carry significantly more people in a single dispatch compared to typical coaster trains.
