Santa María de Ujué, Wooden religious sculpture in Santa María Church, Navarre, Spain.
The Santa María de Ujué sculpture, created in 1200, stands in the central apse of the church, measuring two meters in height with gilded details.
The sculpture underwent modifications in the 14th century when King Charles II of Navarre ordered its covering with silver plates to enhance its appearance.
Local residents maintain a traditional procession carrying the statue through the streets of Ujué during the last Sunday of April each year.
The sculpture is displayed behind protective glass in the main altar area, which visitors can view during regular church opening hours from 10:00 to 18:00.
The wooden figure contains a silver reliquary holding the preserved heart of King Charles II of Navarre, following his final testament in 1385.
