Carrousel des mondes marins, Mechanical carousel in Nantes, France.
The Carousel of Marine Worlds is a mechanical attraction in Nantes featuring three levels that represent different ocean depths. The structure stands about 25 meters tall with a diameter of about 22 meters and contains 36 moving animal figures in total.
The carousel was created in 2012 as part of the Machines of the Isle of Nantes project on a former shipyard site. It was built on historic ground where ships were once constructed.
The carousel displays handcrafted marine creatures that reflect the city's maritime heritage. These figures are intricately made from metal and speak to the industrial tradition of Nantes.
The site is easily reached on foot and the different levels are accessible to visitors of varying ages. It is advisable to visit during good weather since the attraction is outdoors.
Some of the moving figures, including a giant crab and a reverse-propulsion squid, can be controlled by riders during the ride. These interactive elements make each experience personal and engaging.
