Parish Church of St Mary, Medieval parish church in Letchworth Garden City, England
The Parish Church of St Mary features flint and ironstone walls, freestone dressings, and a timber-framed bell-cote with a pyramidical roof at the west end.
Dating from the late 12th century, the church stands on Saxon foundations and underwent significant modifications, including a roof renovation in the 15th century.
The church changed from a central parish building to a chapel of ease in 1967 when St Michael's church became the main parish church of Letchworth.
Located on Letchworth Lane, the Grade II listed building maintains regular services and remains open for visits to examine its architectural features.
A carved effigy of Sir Richard de Montfichet rests on a window sill, with his heart reportedly buried beneath the church structure.
