Town Hall, Grade II listed town hall in Letchworth Garden City, England.
Town Hall is a red-brick building with a balanced facade featuring eleven bays, Corinthian pilasters, and a clock tower capped with a cupola. The structure displays formal proportions appropriate to its role as the town's administrative center.
Built in 1935 by architects Robert Bennett and Wilson Bidwell, it served as the local government headquarters until 1974. The building later became home to North Hertfordshire College following comprehensive restoration work completed in 2013.
The building has long served as the heart of local life, hosting community gatherings and celebrations that define the town's social calendar. Residents regard it as a symbol of their town's identity and continuity.
Visitors can access parts of the building to view its architecture and public spaces, though you should check current opening times beforehand as it remains in active use. The building is located in the town center, making it easy to reach on foot from surrounding streets.
The clock tower houses one of the few remaining original electro-mechanical clocks never converted to electric motors, with restoration completed in 2017. This rare survival allows visitors to see a working example of early 20th-century clockmaking technology.
