Queens Building, Heathrow, Administrative building at Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom
The Queens Building featured a curved design with extensive glass windows, allowing natural light to illuminate the interior spaces throughout the day.
Opening its doors in 1955, Queen Elizabeth II inaugurated this structure, which initially served as the main administrative center for Heathrow Airport operations.
The building contained public viewing platforms where families gathered to watch aircraft takeoffs and landings during the early years of commercial aviation.
Before its demolition in 2009, the structure housed airline offices, conference facilities, and the only business center located within airport grounds.
The rooftop gardens of the Queens Building attracted numerous aircraft enthusiasts who documented the growing air traffic at Heathrow during the 1950s.
