The stone tower structure stands near Caprington with its distinctive crow-stepped gables and corbelled parapets marking the industrial landscape of East Ayrshire.
Built in the late 18th century, Blacksyke Tower housed a Newcomen atmospheric pumping engine that removed water from coal workings at depths of 50 meters.
The tower represents early Scottish industrial engineering, combining functional design with architectural elements that mirror the period's Gothic tower house style.
Visitors can reach the monument through the grounds of Caprington Golf Club, where the structure remains visible among the surrounding golf courses.
The engine house served as a signal point where workers raised flags to indicate when coal loads were ready for transportation via the adjacent railway system.
