Chingford Town Hall, Municipal building in Chingford, England
Chingford Town Hall is a municipal building located on The Ridgeway, designed with a symmetrical front facade featuring five bays and Doric columns that frame a ground-level entrance portico. Inside, the entrance hall displays terrazzo flooring that leads toward a council chamber with double-height ceilings and a public viewing gallery.
The building served as the administrative centre of the Municipal Borough of Chingford until 1965, when the formation of the London Borough of Waltham Forest reorganised local government in the area. This shift in governance reflected broader administrative changes affecting the region.
The entrance hall contains terrazzo flooring leading to a double-height council chamber equipped with a public gallery for community gatherings.
The building is no longer accessible as a public venue since it received planning approval in 2013 to be converted into residential apartments. You can view the structure from the street and appreciate its architectural features from outside.
The central section displays the borough coat of arms above a balcony, complemented by a clock and flagpole at roof level.
