The mineral springs of Sernovodsk-Kaukazsky Resort are sulfur springs in the Chechen Republic near Grozny, with over 20 natural sources. Today about six of these springs are active, two used for drinking and delivering roughly 850 liters daily of water containing 26 to 30 milligrams of hydrogen sulfide per liter.
The original settlement here was called Ena-Hishka and was long known as a healing place before a fortress was built in 1819. The site was later renamed Sernovodsk to honor the sulfur springs known since the 18th century, and developed especially in the 19th century into a medical resort.

A pavilion called the Temple of the Sun, built in 1912 to honor the son of a doctor who developed the springs, still stands at the site and is one of the landmarks of the resort. This structure shows the personal bond people formed with this healing place and its importance across many decades.
