Xerigordos

Xerigordos is a medieval castle on a hilltop in Yalova, Turkey, with thick stone walls and an integrated water spring system. The site features terraced areas and defensive structures that reflect construction from different periods.

The fortress served as a key strategic point during the People's Crusade in 1096 before being retaken by Sultan Kilij Arslan I. These events demonstrate its importance as a control point between cultures.
