Rönesans Rezidans, Residential building in Ekinci, Antakya, Turkey
Rönesans Rezidans was a residential complex containing 249 units spread across 12 floors, supplemented by two commercial spaces and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. The development provided additional facilities including a fitness center, sports areas, and round-the-clock security services for residents.
The building was completed in 2012 and represented the first luxury residential complex in Hatay Province, responding to increased cross-border trade activity in the region. Its construction marked the beginning of a new phase of urban expansion in Antakya during a period of economic growth.
The residential complex reflected modern Turkish urban development patterns, accommodating 700 to 1000 residents from the local business community.
The location was in Ekinci, a central district of Antakya, offering good accessibility to business and trading centers. The site provided residents with proximity to local amenities and major transportation intersections within the city.
The building collapsed during the February 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquake due to inadequate foundation depth. Its foundations measured only 3 meters deep when building codes required a minimum of 10 meters.
