Victoria Museum

The Victoria Museum is a fashion gallery in Kyiv housing a collection of around 1,500 objects from European urban dress between 1850 and 1920. The exhibition spreads across seven rooms and displays original garments along with accessories from the period.

The museum opened in 2017 in a restored mansion from the late 1800s that kept its original architectural features. The location in a historic building connects the collection to the architecture of the era it represents.

The name references the Victorian era that forms the core of the collection, and you notice the quality of tailoring in each displayed garment as you walk through the rooms. The pieces show how people in European cities lived and dressed during this period.

The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday and offers audio guides in multiple languages to help you navigate the collection. You should note that exhibits are spread across several floors and the building features narrow stairs.

The museum presented in 2019 a special exhibition of one of the country's largest hand fan collections, featuring over 80 individual pieces from different eras. This collection showed the importance of accessories in fashion from that period.
