Pic de Crigne

Pic de Crigne is a mountain summit in the Dauphiné Prealps reaching 1,263 meters, where steep slopes and limestone rock dominate the landscape. The route covers 6.5 kilometers with significant elevation gain throughout.

Shepherds established a small settlement near Basse Crigne hut in the early 1900s and left traces of their mountain life. The ruins tell the story of how people once adapted to living in these heights.

The mountain paths reflect how shepherds once lived in these highlands, with stone ruins and old trail markers still visible today.

Reaching the summit takes roughly 5 hours of hiking and demands good physical fitness. Sturdy boots and weather protection are essential since conditions can change quickly at altitude.

A natural rocky passage called 'the genévrier' features a juniper tree that has become a helpful climbing aid for many hikers. This stone corridor marks one of the most challenging sections of the ascent.
