The castle stands on a rocky outcrop and features a Gothic chapel, guard quarters, and fortified entrance gate with defensive walls.
Built in the 14th century by Arnaud de Trians, the castle expanded into a viscounty in 1326 with jurisdiction over seven surrounding parishes.
The castle's chapel displays Gothic architecture with stone vaults and period decorations from the late 15th century renovation.
Individual visits are possible from April to October, while group tours require advance reservations through the Tallard municipality office.
The castle survived a major fire in 1692 by the Duke of Savoy and remained abandoned for 205 years until its purchase in 1897.
