The name comes from Latin, referring to the flint and silex properties of the limestone that shaped its geological character over centuries. Modern climbers discovered and developed the area in the 20th century, turning it into a known climbing destination.
The climbing routes here carry names reflecting both local heritage and global climbing culture, showing how this mountain brings together people from many places. These names tell the story of how the site has become important to climbers worldwide.
The best climbing season runs from April through August when the weather is stable and conditions work for most routes. The cliff has several sectors at different positions, so you can follow the sun or seek shade depending on the time of day and season.
The rock face displays striking blue and ochre colorings in the limestone that give the place a visually distinctive appearance. Instead of traditional cracks, the stone features numerous pocket holes that define the climbing experience and set it apart from other climbing areas.
