La Ferme du Col, Petting zoo in Jarjayes, France.
La Ferme du Col is a petting zoo in the French Alps where over one hundred animals from about twenty different species live together. Visitors can see and interact with Angora goats, cows, pigs, rabbits, ostriches, emus, and golden pheasants in open spaces.
The farm grew out of the local agricultural tradition of the region and later became a place for animal-based education. Today it bridges the preservation of rural practices with sharing knowledge to visitors.
Educational workshops at the farm promote understanding of rural life, teaching visitors about animal care, sustainable farming methods, and agricultural traditions.
A visit works best with comfortable shoes since you spend much time outdoors and in direct contact with animals. It helps to wear appropriate clothing for mountain weather and be prepared for changing conditions.
Visitors can join wool workshops where they learn how fibers from the Angora goats are processed and prepared. An attached shop sells handmade Mohair products created on the farm itself.
