Croix de Chirol

Croix de Chirol is a mountain summit near Annonay reaching 915 meters in elevation. From this point, views extend in all directions across the Annonay basin and toward distant Alpine peaks.

The summit has marked a boundary between the Ardèche and Loire departments for many generations. The religious cross was added later and now serves as a reference point in this historically significant area.

The religious cross at the peak connects spiritual traditions with mountain activities that shape how the region relates to nature. Many visitors combine moments of reflection with their hike to this location.

Three marked hiking trails lead to the summit from three different starting points around the area. These paths work for both hikers and mountain bikers, and are generally accessible year-round.

An orientation table at the summit helps visitors identify the surrounding landscapes. Using this guide, one can spot the valleys of the Deûme and Cance rivers and the edges of the Massif Central.
