Pic de Saint-Cyr, Mountain peak in the Baronnies region, France.
Pic de Saint-Cyr is a mountain peak in the Baronnies rising to about 1,340 meters (4,400 feet) with limestone slopes and rocky terrain throughout. The massif displays varied rock layers that show different colors and textures across its faces.
The mountain formed through tectonic movements during Alpine uplift millions of years ago, shaping the Baronnies massif. These geological processes fundamentally shaped the structure and appearance of the region.
Shepherds in the area continue their pastoral traditions, with herds moving regularly through pastures around the mountain. The grazing lands show marks of these age-old practices that still shape the landscape today.
The trail begins at the Antonaves parking area and winds upward via switchbacks with varied gradients depending on elevation. Conditions change with the seasons, so proper footwear and preparation are important for a safe visit.
From the summit, a broad view extends to Mont Ventoux and the valley below, which is marked by extensive fruit orchards. The orchards are protected by large nets against rain and hail, giving the valley a distinctive appearance.
