Roche du Sapin Sec

The Roche du Sapin Sec is a mountain viewpoint at 901 meters elevation that you reach by stone steps leading to a platform with wide views. An orientation table helps you identify landmarks across the surrounding landscape.

Historical records show that priests once gathered at this site to perform religious rituals and carve stones for ceremonial purposes. These practices connected the summit to spiritual traditions of the region.

The Jean Gromer shelter at Col du Sapin Sec demonstrates regional building style with its distinctive three-wall structure that supports the roof. It exemplifies practical mountain architecture adapted to local conditions.

Several hiking paths lead to the summit, with the route from Les Molières parking area taking about 2 hours round trip. Good footwear is essential since stone steps and uneven terrain are present on site.

From this point you can see wind turbines, the Saales pass, and several peaks of the High Vosges including Schlucht Pass. This view blends modern energy installations with the natural mountain landscape of the region.
