Rocher du Corbeau, Scenic viewpoint in Aiguebelette-le-Lac, France
The Rocher du Corbeau is a rocky outcrop above Lake Aiguebelette in Savoie, serving as a natural viewpoint over the water and the hills around it. The rock juts out from the wooded slope, giving an open view of the lake below without obstruction from the surrounding trees.
The paths around this rocky outcrop were long used by traders and travelers moving between France and Italy. By the 16th century, these routes had become well-established roads crossed regularly by armies and merchants.
Hikers and day visitors often stop here to take in the view over the lake, frequently with family or friends. It is common to pause on the rocky outcrop and look out over the water before heading back down the trail.
The starting point is near the village of Aiguebelette-le-Lac, where a small parking area is available. The path through the woods is clearly marked, but wet leaves and loose stones can make the ground slippery, so sturdy shoes are a good idea.
Despite the short walk, which takes only about ten minutes from the parking area, the view from the top opens up to both the full lake and distant Alpine peaks. This combination of a brief walk and such a wide view is rare to find in the region.
