The Tomb of the Giant
The Tomb of the Giant is a viewpoint on a hilltop above Ucimont near Bouillon, from which you can look out over the river valley and forests surrounding the Semois. The site itself is simple, with benches and picnic tables under trees, from where you can see far into the distance.
According to legend, a local ancient hero fought against the Romans and after his defeat threw himself from the cliffs rather than face capture. The place has been connected to this story for a long time, showing how local oral traditions blend with distant historical memory.
The site is named after a local legend of a strong ancient hero whose memory lives on in the stories passed down by the people living here. These traditions continue to shape how locals and visitors understand the place and its role in the region's cultural memory.
You can reach the viewpoint on foot from Bouillon, which takes about two hours, or park free on Rue de Châteaumont and walk from there. There are no restrooms or shops nearby, so bring your own water and food, and wear comfortable shoes for the walk.
From this spot, you can become part of the hiking community connecting two well-known viewpoints if you choose the long walk to the nearby Point de Vue Frahan. This route of about two hours links both places and shows how the landscape guides walkers in this area.
