WonderWorks, Science interactive museum in Orlando, United States
WonderWorks is a science museum in Orlando featuring more than one hundred hands-on exhibits spread across multiple floors within an inverted building. The space is divided into themed zones that explore physics, natural disasters, space exploration, and the human body through interactive demonstrations.
The museum opened in the late 1990s and quickly became a fixture along International Drive in Orlando. The inverted design was chosen to signal a playful approach to science education from the outside.
Each scientific demonstration merges educational principles with physical activities, allowing visitors to learn through direct engagement with natural phenomena.
Admission covers access to all exhibits, while additional activities such as the ropes course or laser tag can be purchased separately. The museum is air-conditioned and works well on hot days when outdoor activities are less comfortable.
Visitors pass through a tunnel at the entrance that creates the sensation of turning the building right-side up again. This optical illusion sets the tone for the many physics experiments waiting inside.
