Aviflora, Recreational park and zoo in Ingelmunster, Belgium
Aviflora was a recreational park combining indoor and outdoor play areas with separate animal enclosures. The facility housed birds of prey, ponies, and deer in different sections throughout the grounds.
Frans Vanooteghem and Maria Mattan founded the site in 1956 and ran it through their retirement in the 1990s. Marnick Goossens then took over the property.
The place hosted regular dog shows, parrot demonstrations, and birds of prey flight displays that became central attractions. These events drew visitors and shaped how people experienced the location.
The park opened daily at 10 AM and offered free admission for adults after 5 PM. The same free entry applied throughout winter months from October through Easter.
The name Aviflora combined 'avi' for birds with 'flora' for plants, reflecting an original plan to function as both a zoological and botanical destination. This dual purpose set it apart from typical animal parks of the era.
