Labenne's zoo

Labenne's zoo is an animal park located near the Landes coast with about 5 hectares of space housing roughly 350 animals representing about 75 species, including wolves, lynx, lemurs, and meerkats. The enclosures are designed to reflect different climates and habitats, creating settings where each animal group can thrive.

The facility began as a conservation project along the coast and grew over time as new enclosures were built and specialized care programs were developed. Educational offerings expanded alongside infrastructure improvements to support both animal welfare and visitor learning.

Educational programs here let visitors learn about wildlife conservation through demonstrations where you can watch animals being fed and see how they behave.

The grounds are easy to navigate with marked paths throughout, and a half day visit gives you enough time to see the main areas. Shaded rest areas and picnic spots are available where you can take a break while exploring.

You can join special programs where you help with daily animal care and learn what keepers do behind the scenes to keep the animals healthy. This hands-on experience reveals the real work involved in running such a facility.
