Food Traboule, Food court in Vieux Lyon, France
Food Traboule is a modern dining hub in the heart of Vieux Lyon that brings together multiple cooking counters under one roof. Inside the restored Renaissance building, various kitchen stations spread across different levels and offer seating to eat there or space to order takeaway.
The venue opened in 2020 inside a carefully restored Renaissance building with traditional Lyon traboule passages. Converting a former luxury hotel into this modern food project gave the historic structure a new purpose and brought fresh energy to the area.
Local chefs Tabata and Ludovic Mey created this space to showcase different cooking styles from the Lyon region all in one location. You can taste how various cooks interpret traditional dishes, each bringing their own approach to what they prepare.
The place is open during the day and stays open late into the evening, so you can stop by quickly or settle in for a longer visit. You can order at different counters and then sit at a table or grab your food to go, depending on how much time you have.
The Tour Rose, the building housing the venue, was known during the Renaissance for its hidden escape routes. These secret passages, originally built for protection, are still visible today and speak to the dramatic past of this location.
