White Drin Waterfall, Waterfall in Peja Municipality, Kosovo
White Drin Waterfall is a cascade in western Kosovo that drops from a limestone ledge into a pool with green-blue water. Nearby, beech and oak woods stretch along the riverbank, with a wooden viewing platform placed close to the falling water.
The waterfall marks the source of the White Drin River, which begins near Rusoli Mountain from a cave at Radavc. For generations, the same water has fed the city of Peja and continued northward to join the Black Drin in Albania.
A restored water mill stands near the entrance, and visitors can see the wooden channel and grinding stone that once turned grain using the river's force. On weekends, tables and barbecue pits along the bank draw local families who spend the afternoon eating and resting beside the water.
A car is the easiest way to arrive, and the final stretch from the parking area is a short walk of ten to twenty minutes. Wear shoes with a good grip because rocks and paths stay wet and can be slippery after rain.
Even in August, the pool below the falls stays cold enough to make swimmers gasp. The flow changes sharply with the seasons because it depends on snowmelt from the nearby mountains, so the same ledge can turn from a thin veil to a heavy curtain within weeks.
