Mikros Aselinos beach

Mikros Aselinos is a sandy beach on the northwest coast of Skiathos, set between rocky outcrops with fine golden sand. The water shifts its color throughout the day depending on the sunlight, creating a natural shoreline with minimal development.

A monastery from the 17th century, Moni Panagias Kounistras, stands nearby and once anchored spiritual life for local communities. This remote beach has remained largely undeveloped, preserving its natural state through the centuries.

People gather here to escape the busier developed beaches elsewhere on the island. The informal taverna serves as a meeting place where locals and visitors connect over simple meals and sea views.

To reach the beach, visitors need to travel from bus stop 18 for about one hour, then walk down a steep dirt path. Few facilities exist here, so bringing water and snacks is wise since only a small taverna offers drinks and simple food.

A simple wooden taverna shack stands as the only structure on this otherwise undeveloped shoreline. This small hut has endured for decades, representing a quiet resistance to the larger development that has spread across other parts of the island.
