Schlitterbahn New Braunfels

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels is a large water park with numerous water slides, wave pools, and river floats spread across grounds along the Comal River. The different sections each offer their own water attractions and activities for visitors to explore.

The park opened in 1979 with four water slides and expanded several times, notably adding Surfenberg in 1992 and Blastenhoff in 1996. These additions helped establish it as one of the region's most significant water attractions.

The name comes from German, meaning 'slippery road,' reflecting the heritage of New Braunfels' early settlers. You'll notice this German influence throughout the park in how different areas are named and designed.

The park operates from late April through mid-September with day passes and season passes available. Plan to spend several hours exploring the different areas, and bring sun protection since you will be outdoors in direct sunlight most of the day.

The park pioneered innovations like the first inland wave attraction and the first river-style water rides of their kind, drawing international attention to the location. These breakthroughs earned recognition from major industry publications for several consecutive years.
