The Six Forgotten Giants, Wooden sculpture trail in Copenhagen suburbs, Denmark.
The Six Forgotten Giants is a collection of six large wooden sculptures created by artist Thomas Dambo scattered across municipalities west of Copenhagen. They stand in forests, meadows, and near waterways, each displaying its own design and scale.
The sculptures were created during Vestegnens Culture Week in 2016 using recycled wood from demolition projects around the Copenhagen area. The project gave new life to materials that would otherwise have been discarded.
Each giant received its name from people who volunteered during construction, creating a direct link between the local community and this public art project. The sculptures serve as gathering points where visitors connect with the landscape around them.
Visiting all six sculptures requires traveling about 35 kilometers between the dispersed locations spread across several municipalities. A map or guide helps you locate the exact spots since they are not all easily found from main roads.
The sculpture called Little Tilde contains 28 birdhouses where local birds nest and raise their young. This feature shows how art installations can serve nature at the same time.
