Tulip Trestle

Tulip Trestle, Railroad viaduct in Greene County, United States.

The Tulip Trestle is a steel railroad viaduct that crosses Richland Creek Valley. The structure stands on multiple support towers and connects the high plateaus on either side of the gorge.

The viaduct was built between 1905 and 1906, and held the title of longest railroad trestle in the United States upon completion. This engineering achievement connected settlements on both sides of the valley and opened new transportation routes through the region.

The Tulip Trestle Community Restoration organization meets monthly at the observation deck to plan preservation activities and local community events.

An observation deck allows visitors to watch freight trains crossing the viaduct. The site offers picnic tables and informational signs for exploring the structure.

The viaduct was constructed through international labor collaboration, bringing Italian immigrant workers together with local engineers. This partnership shaped local development and remains part of the region's story.
