La Guitarrita, Family pizzeria in Vicente López, Argentina
La Guitarrita is a pizzeria and restaurant in Vicente López, Buenos Aires Province, located in a multi-story building at the corner of Vuelta de Obligado and Juana Azurduy streets. The space is divided across several floors, each with its own dining area, and also offers takeaway service.
The restaurant was founded in 1963 by two former professional football players, Mario Boyé, who had played for Racing and Boca Juniors, and René Pontoni, who had played for San Lorenzo de Almagro. From the start it attracted football fans and has stayed a meeting point in the area ever since.
The walls are covered with football jerseys, pennants, and scarves gathered over many decades, making the space feel like a living museum of Argentine football. Visitors who know little about the sport still notice how naturally it shapes the daily life of people in the area.
The place opens early and closes late, so it works for a quick lunch as well as a longer dinner at different times of day. On weekends and public holidays it tends to fill up, so arriving a little early or being ready to wait is a good idea.
The pizza dough is prepared using a Polish-style preferment method and must rest in the cold for at least 10 hours before it is used. This slow process gives the crust a texture and depth of flavor that sets it apart from a standard pizza dough.
