Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows
Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows is a resort hotel on Kaanapali Beach on the island of Maui, situated just north of Black Rock, with two pools near the shore and two on-site dining options. Rooms come with air conditioning and a refrigerator, and some have balconies or lanais facing the water.
The resort opened as part of the early development of Kaanapali Beach into a planned resort area during the 1960s. It was among the first hotels built in West Maui and has remained in operation since then.
The name of the resort refers to Hawaii's royal past, and guests can watch traditional hula performances and hear local music most evenings during dinner. These shows are held on the property and give visitors a direct encounter with living Hawaiian traditions.
The parking area on the property is narrow, so take extra care when maneuvering a rental car to avoid blocking other vehicles. The beach is directly accessible on foot from the rooms, with no roads to cross.
The stretch of Kaanapali Beach in front of the property tends to be noticeably less crowded than the sections closer to the main resort strip, even though the two are only a short walk apart. Many guests discover this only after wandering further along the shore.
