Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse is an octagonal stone tower standing on a hillside with views out toward the South China Sea. The structure houses a small museum displaying preserved keeper quarters and various artifacts from its long years of operation.

An engineer designed the tower in the late 1880s, and the structure began guiding ships along the coast in the early 1890s. The building has continued to serve its purpose for maritime navigation ever since.

The lighthouse stands as a symbol of the Ilocos coast and draws visitors who come to experience the views and learn about maritime heritage. Travelers climb to the top to take in the panoramic perspectives and understand how this structure connected to the daily lives of people living nearby.

Visitors climb concrete stairs to reach the observation platform and take in the surrounding views. It helps to wear sturdy footwear and move carefully on the steps, especially when weather conditions make the surface slippery.

The tower still operates its original light system, which flashes in a distinctive pattern across the water. This system works by the same principles as when it was first installed over 130 years ago.
