Castle Kyburg

Castle Kyburg is a museum located on a hill above the Töss River in Switzerland, featuring medieval architecture with fortified walls and a central tower. The building houses an armory, dungeon, courtrooms, a castle chapel, shop, and restaurant for visitors today.

The castle was built in the 13th century and has remained an important site in Swiss medieval history. Between 1273 and 1322, it served as storage for the Imperial Regalia of the Holy Roman Empire, reflecting its significance.

The castle hosts cultural events that blend its medieval setting with contemporary performances and gatherings. Summer music festivals bring visitors to the courtyard, where the old stone walls create a special backdrop for live performances.

During excavations in 2021, a 14th-century metal gauntlet was discovered that reveals details about medieval armor techniques. This find shows the castle still holds secrets and allows archaeologists to uncover new information about how people lived in medieval times.
