Illnau-Effretikon, Administrative division in Pfäffikon district, Switzerland.
Illnau-Effretikon is a municipality in the canton of Zurich comprising four villages: Illnau, Effretikon, Ottikon, and Bisikon. The area features a mix of residential neighborhoods, working areas, and green spaces spread across gently rolling terrain.
The settlement first appeared in written records in 745 under the names Illenavvia and Erpfratinchova. Over time, Illnau served as the main center before both places developed their own importance.
The municipality conducts administrative operations from its central location at Märtplatz 298308, where residents can access various governmental services and community resources.
Two railway stations serve the municipality: Effretikon on the Zurich-Winterthur line and Illnau on the Effretikon-Hinwil route. Both stations provide access to various S-Bahn connections throughout the region.
Kyburg merged with the municipality in 2016, significantly expanding its territory. This union brought additional agricultural lands and wooded areas under local administration.
