Gramai Alm Alpengenuss & Natur Spa
Gramai Alm Alpengenuss & Natur Spa is a hotel in Pertisau set in a wood and stone building at the end of the Falzthurn Valley, surrounded by high mountains. The property features rooms with balconies, a heated swimming pool, a spa area with sauna and steam room, and a dining room where sunlight streams through large windows overlooking the landscape.
The site was an alpine farm for centuries, where farmers grazed animals during summer, before being purchased by private owners around 1960 who built a cable car and constructed an inn in 1970. The Rieser family bought the operation in 1999 and has gradually modernized it, adding a spa area in 2017 and introducing renewable energy sources.
The name Gramai comes from the Rhaeto-Romanic language and means scree field, reflecting the rocky terrain of the location. The place represents a way of life where visitors engage slowly with mountain nature, sitting quietly, enjoying local food, and taking time to rest away from busy routines.
The hotel is easily reached on foot or skis from Pertisau and sits in the Karwendel Nature Park at about 4160 feet (1267 meters) elevation. The area has simple, well-marked trails for hiking in summer and cross-country skiing routes in winter, allowing visitors to plan activities based on the season.
The location received electrical power only in August 2010, and the Rieser family now uses almost exclusively renewable energy sources. This late electrification and commitment to sustainability make it a remarkable example of how traditional mountain culture combines with modern environmental awareness.
