Estancia "La Candelaria"
Estancia La Candelaria is a castle built in 1840 with a neogothic design, standing on over 100 hectares of land landscaped by French architect Carlos Thays. The property offers two main guest areas: the castle with French-inspired rooms and the colonial sector with family accommodations, plus bungalows nestled near the woods.
The estate was founded in 1840 when pharmacist Orestes Piñeiro acquired land in the region and named it after his wife Candelaria. The neogothic castle was constructed in the late 1800s by a French architect, while gardens were designed by Carlos Thays with approximately 240 different tree varieties planted across the grounds.
The name 'La Candelaria' comes from the wife of founder Orestes Piñeiro, who purchased the estate in the 1800s as a tribute to his family. Visitors experience local traditions today through folk music shows on weekends and activities that connect them to Argentine rural life and customs.
The property is located about 115 kilometers from Buenos Aires and accessible by car through small towns and countryside. Visitors should note that check-in begins at 11 AM with rooms available from 3 PM, and check-out is at 10 AM the following morning.
The bungalows with fireplaces and the romantic windmill suite by the pool are hidden gems for couples seeking an intimate overnight stay away from the main castle and colonial buildings. These special accommodations offer a memorable experience that many visitors overlook when booking their stay.
