The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Art museum in Houston Museum District, United States
The Museum of Fine Arts spans across three buildings, offering 300,000 square feet of exhibition space with collections from six continents throughout 5,000 years of history.
Founded in 1917 as the Houston Public School Art League, the museum opened its first building in 1924, designed by architect William Ward Watkin.
The museum collection contains 80,000 artworks, including substantial holdings of Islamic, European, American, Asian, and Latin American art spanning multiple centuries.
Visitors can access the museum Wednesday through Sunday, with free admission on Thursdays and paid parking available in three garages on Binz Street, Main Street, and Montrose Boulevard.
The Nancy and Rich Kinder Building, completed in 2020, expanded the museum's exhibition space by 75 percent, making it the twelfth largest art museum globally.
