Clarion Hotel Post, Design hotel in central Gothenburg, Sweden.
Clarion Hotel Post is a hotel in central Gothenburg, housed in a former post office building from the 1920s, with rooms, restaurants, a bar, a spa, and a rooftop pool all under one roof. The building sits right next to Gothenburg Central Station, placing guests within easy reach of the main city streets.
The building was constructed in the 1920s as Gothenburg's main post office, built in a neoclassical style with a solid stone facade that still stands today. Decades later, the interior was completely remade to house the hotel, while the outside was left largely as it was.
The Norda Bar & Grill on the ground floor serves Swedish cooking with American touches, a combination that feels natural in a port city long open to outside influences. The food and the setting together say something about how Gothenburg has always absorbed things from elsewhere.
Because the hotel is attached to Gothenburg Central Station, guests arriving by train or bus can reach the front door without any extra travel. The central location also means most of the city's main streets and attractions are within walking distance.
The rooftop pool sits behind glass walls and is heated year-round, so guests can swim outdoors even in the middle of a Swedish winter. It is one of the few hotel pools in the country that stays open in all seasons.
