Fesch Museum

The Fesch Museum is an art museum in Ajaccio housed in a neoclassical palace displaying over 400 works across 27 rooms on multiple levels. The collection spans paintings, sculptures, and decorative objects from different periods and cultures.

Cardinal Joseph Fesch, Napoleon Bonaparte's uncle, founded the museum in the early 19th century and donated over 1,000 artworks to the institution. His collection formed the foundation of what the museum is today.

The museum holds one of France's largest collections of Italian paintings, displaying works by Botticelli, Titian, and other Renaissance artists. Visitors walking through the rooms can feel how deeply Italian artistic traditions shaped this place's character.

The basement level houses a special collection of objects connected to Napoleon and his family. An adjacent chapel serves as a burial place for important historical figures from that era.
