Creta Maris Beach Resort
Creta Maris Beach Resort is a large hotel complex on Crete's north coast near Chersonisos with over 600 rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, and numerous pools. The property combines traditional Greek architecture with modern facilities and spreads across expansive grounds with gardens, flowers, and quiet pathways.
The resort was founded in the late 1970s by Nikos and Loula Metaxa to offer guests an authentic Greek cultural experience in a peaceful setting. Over decades, it grew into one of the first major tourism facilities in Hersonissos and remains an established destination for family and group travel.
The name combines two elements: Creta for the island and Maris for the sea. The architecture mimics a traditional Cretan village with whitewashed buildings, winding pathways, and flowering plants like bougainvillea and olive trees. Visitors experience a sense of authentic Greek life while enjoying modern comforts throughout the property.
The resort is about 20 minutes from Heraklion Airport with easy transfers available and about 3 hours from Chania. The large grounds are easy to walk around, but a rental car is practical if you want to explore beyond the resort in Crete.
The resort was deliberately built around small archaeological findings that remain preserved and visible within the pool areas. This blend of modern comfort with ancient history makes the place a subtle testament to Crete's rich cultural layers.
