The Former Jumbo Floating Restaurant was a floating seafood establishment anchored in Aberdeen Harbor. The three-story structure spanned roughly 260 feet and featured neon signs combined with traditional Chinese architectural design elements throughout.
The restaurant opened in 1976 and served international celebrities including Queen Elizabeth II, Tom Cruise, and Gwyneth Paltrow during its 46-year operation. After decades as a harbor landmark, it closed in 2022.
The restaurant was a symbol of Hong Kong's maritime heritage and Cantonese culinary traditions. Its lavish decor with golden accents and traditional Chinese artworks created a gathering place where local and international visitors could experience local dining customs.
Visitors reached the establishment by designated boats departing from Aberdeen Harbor, where they could choose from an extensive selection of Cantonese seafood preparations. The boat journey added to the experience and allowed guests to view the harbor from the water.
The location appeared in several films including Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon and Stephen Chow's God of Cookery, giving it a special place in cinema history. Its appearances on screen made it a recognized spot for film enthusiasts worldwide.
