Altes Stahlwerk Business & Lifestyle Hotel
The Altes Stahlwerk Business & Lifestyle Hotel is a hotel in a converted steel factory in Neumünster, with about 100 rooms in contemporary design and high ceilings that preserve the industrial past. The spaces are spread across four floors and include two restaurants, a wellness center with sauna, a wine cellar, several conference rooms, and an outdoor area with various recreational facilities.
The site was originally a steelworks factory before being converted into a hotel in 2012 by two investors. The transformation preserved the building's original structure and history while adding modern facilities and design elements.
The restaurant 1500°C takes its name from the melting temperature of steel, keeping the industrial past visible in daily experience. Diners sit surrounded by photographs of factory workers and modern graffiti art, making the connection between what came before and what exists now tangible.
The hotel is about one kilometer from the train station and convenient for car travelers, with free Wi-Fi and bicycle rental on site. Guests should know that sourcing relies on regional products, which means menus change with seasons.
A retired car has been turned into a bar located visibly in the hotel, catching visitors off guard. This unexpected detail shows the creative reuse of objects from the area's industrial past.
