Caernarfon Airworld Aviation Museum is an aviation museum on the grounds of the former RAF Llandwrog airfield, near Caernarfon in Wales. The collection includes military and civilian aircraft such as the Hawker Hunter, the D.H. Vampire, and the world's only remaining T2 BAe Harrier, alongside models, photographs, uniforms, and tools.
The site began as an RAF base called RAF Llandwrog and played a role in wartime operations across North Wales. The museum opened in 1988 and has since focused on preserving that aviation history, including the origins of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service, which was founded here in 1942.
The museum sits on a working airfield, which sets it apart from a typical indoor collection. Visitors can sometimes watch real aircraft taking off or landing in the background while standing next to historic planes.
Free parking is available on site, and a bus stop is nearby for those arriving by public transport. Most of the museum is accessible for wheelchair users, though some aircraft cockpits and small upper-floor galleries have steps. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas.
The T2 BAe Harrier on display is the only one of its kind left in the world. This jet was built to take off and land vertically, a design that was considered a turning point in military aviation when it first appeared.
