The Cafe Rio
The Cafe Rio is a restaurant in Bangladesh that serves food buffet-style with specialized stations including a Fushka counter for street snacks and a Chotpoti station for local favorites. The space features a live food preparation area, a beverage section with coffee, tea, juice, and mocktails, an ice cream parlor, and regular live music performances.
The Cafe Rio was established in 2017 by founder Moriom Nesa Boby after she worked through several earlier business ventures including tailoring and a beauty parlor. The first location opened in Zigatola and expanded rapidly, with subsequent branches in Uttara and Gulshan, including the larger Cafe Rio Lounge that opened in 2021.
The restaurant features an open layout with clear signage for each station, making navigation straightforward. Visit during off-peak hours for more space and time to explore the various food and drink options at your own pace.
The restaurant grew from the personal journey of its founder, who started with sewing and small business attempts from a middle-class background before discovering food service. Her goal to eventually employ at least 1000 people reveals the ambitious scope behind this venture that extends beyond a simple dining establishment.
