The Dhaka Stock Exchange is one of Bangladesh's two stock exchanges, with its head office in Nikunja, Dhaka. The building shown has a pale cream facade, black capital letters reading "STOCK EXCHANGE LTD" on the upper storey, and two rounded-arch openings at street level fitted with dark brown, vertically paneled doors.
The institution was created in 1954 to respond to growing securities trading after the partition of the Indian subcontinent. In the 1990s it shifted from an open outcry floor to digital trading systems.
The exchange conducts educational programs through its Training Academy to increase financial literacy and investment knowledge among Bangladesh residents.
The exchange is open for trading Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 2:30 pm BST, with hours shortened to 2:00 pm during Ramadan. The building has a pale cream facade with two arched doorways; the right-hand door is sometimes partially open. Access is generally limited to members and registered professionals.
The exchange began in 1954 as the East Pakistan Stock Exchange Association, was renamed Dacca Stock Exchange in 1964, and took its present name in 1986. Its head office moved to Nikunja in 2019; the earlier address was 9/F in Motijheel. The building carries the sign "STOCK EXCHANGE LTD" above two arched doorways.
