Slabtown, Portland, Oregon, Industrial neighborhood in Northwest Portland, United States.

Slabtown is a mixed neighborhood in Northwest Portland that extends from Nicolai Street to Lovejoy Street, with Interstate 405 bordering it to the east and Northwest 29th Avenue to the west. The area shows its industrial origins through older buildings and warehouse spaces that now house restaurants and shops alongside newer structures.

The neighborhood got its name from sawmills that produced wooden slabs during the early industrial period. These factories shaped the area's first economic growth and physical layout.

The dining scene here reflects a neighborhood transformed by diverse cuisines including Thai, French, and Vietnamese options alongside wood-fired pizza restaurants. You can experience this culinary mix by walking through the streets and noticing how different food cultures coexist in the same blocks.

The area connects well to downtown through bike lanes and regular bus services. Walking through the neighborhood allows you to discover restaurants and shops at your own pace without needing a car.

Besaw's restaurant moved to a larger space in 2015 and continues serving traditional brunch fare in a contemporary setting. This relocation shows how the neighborhood has supported long-standing dining establishments.
