Chart House, American restaurant in Tower of the Americas, San Antonio, US
Chart House is an American restaurant occupying the rotating floor of the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio, Texas, about 750 feet (230 m) above ground. It serves prime steaks and seafood in an upscale setting with a full panoramic view of the city and surrounding landscape.
The Tower of the Americas was built for the 1968 HemisFair world exposition in San Antonio, and the restaurant opened shortly after the tower was completed. Chart House later took over the operation and continued the rotating dining concept at that location.
The Chart House sits inside the Tower of the Americas, which was built for the 1968 HemisFair world exposition and remains one of San Antonio's most recognized landmarks. Many visitors come as much for the slowly shifting view of the city as for the food itself.
The restaurant expects guests to dress in business casual attire, so shorts and flip-flops are not appropriate. A reservation made in advance is strongly recommended, particularly for dinner, when demand is highest.
The dining room rotates so slowly that most guests barely notice the movement, even though the view shifts completely over the course of a normal meal. The kitchen and service areas remain stationary while only the seating floor turns.
